About
The North Florida School of Special Education serves students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Jacksonville area. With a 1:6 teacher/student ratio, the school focuses on academics, social skills, speech, physical education and therapy, and music and art. They also work on life skills like independent living instruction, meal prep and cooking, and job training and placement assistance.

The school was founded in 1992 by a group of parents seeking better educational opportunities for their children with intellectual disabilities. It currently serves 120 students ages 6 to 22 and 40 students over the age of 22 in a post-graduate program.
