About
Many of us have heard of the Ronald McDonald House, but not many know exactly what they do. They provide a place for families to stay with all the comforts of home while their children receive care at nearby hospitals. Jacksonville, in particular, has many world-class facilities serving children so there is a strong demand for these services.

The Ronald McDonald House of Jacksonville was opened in 1985 and has helped more than 33,000 families over that time.

They also provide the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, offering families lounging, snacks, support, and simply a break while their child receives care.

The Ronald McDonald House spends about 73% directly on their mission. We like to see a charity spend at least 75% on their mission, so their 73% is below that threshold and indicates they have high costs. Their admin costs are acceptable, but they do have high fundraising costs. They do rely heavily on outside contributions, so the extra fundraising expenses may be justified.

Our Conclusion
The Ronald McDonald House of Jacksonville fills a unique niche. Their costs are on the high side, but it may be justified with the amount of contributions they bring in. We give them a RECOMMEND rating.
