About
Hubbard House is the only certified domestic violence center serving Duval and Baker counties. Formed in 1976, it provides programs and services to over 5,000 women, children, and men annually. It is best known for its emergency shelter, which offers victims of domestic violence and their children food and lodging. They also offer a number of other services, like counseling and outreach, education, batterers’ intervention programs, court advocacy, and volunteer/community education opportunities.

Hubbard House also operates a thrift store, where 100% of the proceeds are reinvested in the shelter. Domestic violence victims receive vouchers to the store to help them rebuild their lives.

Of the $4.0 million in revenue, a large amount came from government grants, which accounted for $1.7 million. $1.9 million came from outside contributions and another $100 thousand was added to their Foundation.

Expenses and Philanthropic Spending

Hubbard House spends just north of 80% directly on their mission. We like to see a charity spend at least 75% on their mission, so 80% is in the acceptable range. They also have modest fundraising expenses.
